Kelly Engineering Diamond Prickle Chain Harrow

Prickle Chain Harrows are used to level the soil surface following a tillage operation. They are especially effective in situations where stubble residue is still present. The chains roll and gently pack the soil while leveling ridges and filling furrows. Straw and weed material are lifted to the surface and left as a mulch.

The mulch also acts to slow down wind and water movement over the soil surface, creating a zone of zero velocity that protects the soil from erosion. The mulch is eventually converted to soil organic carbon and is vital for the continued health and productivity of the soil.

Prickle Chain Harrows are excellent tools for incorporating soil-applied herbicides like Trifluralin and for lightly incorporating manure.

Prickle chain

New 3/4” welded chain with 3/4” K1045 grade steel spikes welded through the link. 4 spikes per link, 12” rolling diameter. In our Diamond configuration there are 40 spikes per foot of coverage. Roughly double the competition.

Frame

High grade Steel tubing and plate are combined to produce a strong and durable frame. The Sturdy and rugged frames are built to cope with the rigours of the Disc Chain. Over 70 different Profile and Laser cut plates are used to give strength, functionality and a professional appearance.

Wheels

All new parts are used on our machines, including the tires. The larger models, 50 & 60 run on 15.5/80x24 lug tires. The huge diameter gives a smooth and bounce free ride, minimal soil compaction and 12 plys of puncture resistance.

The 40 and 45 models run on 16.5 x 16.1 10 ply ribbed tires. The Wheel Rims have an eight stud centre common to many US farm implements. The Hub is a heavy duty eight stud hub with a screw in grease cap. The spindle is 2.5” . Commonly available John Deere and Case hubs and spindles can be used in an emergency.

Hydraulic Fold

Folding totally from tractor seat - user friendly All Models use two pairs of 1/2” ISO standard hydraulic couplings. Larger models incorporate a multi stage sequence valve to manage the folding and unfolding operations. The sequence valve has been upgraded to allow lower operating pressures and greater lifting capacity.
